CodoniX debuts Emergency Department Tracker Board product with proven track record

New Orleans, LA, September 19, 2002. CodoniX, Inc., the nation's premiere provider of E.D. automation systems, introduced its Tracker Board today at the 2002 Emergency Nurses Association 2002 Scientific Assembly.

Previously available only as part of the complete CodoniX System, the Tracker Board is currently in use at hospitals nationwide where it is being used to record over a half-million E.D. visits each year. It follows patients electronically every step of the way from triage through discharge, allowing clinicians to enter information in real time and access it from multiple locations throughout the department.

Using the Tracker Board, E.D. staff can locate patients, determine patient acuity, identify physician and nurse assignments, check bed status and obtain other pertinent departmental data at a glance.

According to CodoniX CEO, William Boles, "the CodoniX Tracker Board is the only system that can provide a total solution for automating the E.D. from triage through discharge." In addition, he states that "it is also the most cost-effective and easy-to-implement solution on the market today."

The CodoniX Tracker Board automatically enters time stamps to record patient progress and creates a complete JACHO compliant log. Since data is accumulated as discrete entries, these can easily be consolidated into reports that can be used to evaluate and improve departmental performance.

Facilities using the Tracker Board can add other CodoniX System components such as physician and nursing documentation as needed with minimal disruption to their normal routines. Over time, the System can be utilized to help establish a truly efficient, paperless E.D.

Designed to address current hospital concerns such as over-crowding, excessive patient turnaround times and other E.D. management issues, the CodoniX Tracker Board is the most simple and straightforward method for many facilities to begin addressing these problems.

"Of the more than 4500 hospital Emergency Departments in the country today," Boles comments, "only a few hundred have even begun tracking patient encounters electronically. Of these, only a few have taken the next step to begin implementing a totally automated solution.

"Since the majority of these are using the CodoniX System, we're hoping our success at these facilities over the past five years will encourage others to follow their lead. Now the Tracker Board makes that process even easier by providing a low-cost solution that can make a significant impact virtually overnight."

Headquartered just outside of Washington, D.C. in Herndon, Virginia, CodoniX, Inc. (www.codonix.com) is a privately held company with a proprietary technology that can be accessed on a local area network or via the Internet to accurately build and code a computerized physician's notes without using complex menus and rigid templates.
